My first attempt to knit Joe an Elizabeth Zimmerman "A Very Warm Hat" didn't turn out as planned as you can read in this post.
On the bright side of life, Declan got himself a little black hat which he insists on wearing every time he goes outside, even when he just wants to hang out in the courtyard and push around his little truck. And when he comes inside he won't let me take it off! He likes it so much, I'm almost okay with him wearing black. Now that I attached the gray hat I wonder if he'll have a preference, what do you think? I vote for the gray but it's his vote that counts.
I started Joe's hat immediately after my first attempt, urging myself to give Elizabeth's instructions a little more faith. It wasn't too long before I noticed where I made my mistakes so I think I got the size right this time. Being a little familiar with this pattern, I've been knitting like a maniac and taking advantage of every spare moment. Knitting while watching TV at night, during speech therapy, drum lessons, ballet lessons and even rewarding myself by knitting a row after vacuuming or some other household chore. I hope Joe enjoys his hat as much as I enjoyed making it. At least he had a good time posing with his little guy. For Joe, he prefers the black and so do I.
Now off to my next project. This is fun!
