It was a perfectly sunny day for the beach on the Gulf today. The waters could have been a bit warmer but that didn't stop Colin. He relished it, daring to go out just a little beyond Mommy's comfort, practicing underwater handstands and showing off his floats with Daddy. Nene is my true island girl and needs year round tropical waters so she would come out of the water often to warm up the sun. And of course picnicking...it's all about any opportunity to have a picnic! My Declan got acquainted to new textures under his feet...cooler waters, sand, crunchy seaweed and sharp shells not to mention on his face too when he accidentally tripped and landed face first into the not so fluffy sand. But give him a moment to complain and off he goes again. He also learned how to stay vigilant of darting seagulls who steal sandwiches directly from your hands, like it happened to our neighbour. He'd yell, "bird coming', "no bird!".
But oh the sun, I'm in love! I sometimes wonder why I'm living in the Pacific Northwest. Why? When the rest of the country is experiencing record high temperatures, is it snowing in the PNW?! Well, forget that! That's why we've come to sunny Florida where it's eighty plus degree and we're on a beach! I forgot how strong the sunlight could be I had to dampen the exposure on all of my photos! If all our troubles could be like this! Oh yes! yes! Bring on the sun!
